Hyrum and Laura

It was fairly easy to recognize very early on that this relationship was something different. Russ and I both felt we were getting to know a future daughter in law. Laura is wonderful, a returned missionary, a second grade teacher, a calm and happy woman who has managed to tame our wild and zany son. We are very happy for Hyrum, who would prefer not to have all the attention.

They met at Macey's where Laura has worked for years. I'm pretty sure their first date was a group fish fry. My first recollection was of her trying to spice the fish before wrapping it in foil. They were not a couple before that night.... maybe after???

Russ's Birthday

No pictures today. Just good memories of everyone having a good time. Instead of going somewhere for a major league game Russ just wanted to stay home and have dinner with his family and go to a Bees game. So that is what we did.
Louisa was able to get off early, Caleb came up, Jesse and Hyrum all were there, Laura was out of town so we missed her. We cooked hot dogs and hamburgers and I made potato salad and baked beans. Real simple, but it is Russ's traditional birthday food.

We played a new game that we got for him and then took everyone to the Bees game. It was a wonderful night, the game was pretty well sold out. We enjoyed the game, they had chances to win, almost had a grand slam, tied it up in the ninth and lost it in the 12th. By then about half the crowd was gone. We stayed for the fireworks and it was worth staying for, they were great.

I sure love my boys and sweet Louisa.
